Northern Premier Division:

A nice and quick overview for our first league as 0 matches were able to be played on Sunday.

Most teams called off their games on Saturday knowing temperatures were due to drop further making pitches unplayable.

However, it was Burnley (who were due to host a top of the table clash) who caused mass outrage from travelling Wolves fans (and neutral fans alike) as they left it until less than two hours before kick-off to announce the game was called off.
This late decision has since caused many to call for clubs to communicate much better with fans in these circumstances and maybe even bring in FA guidance that if temperatures drop below a certain point then the game is automatically postponed.
What do you think?

Southern Premier Division:

Unlike their northern counterparts, only two games in the Southern Premier Division were postponed due to the weather and we’ve got match reports for all 4 games played, below.

Watford came from behind to secure a vital 3 points away to Plymouth Argyle which included a stoppage time goal to make it a brace for Madison Perry. The victory sees them leapfrog Argyle in the league table and move into second place.

League leaders Bournemouth were held to a draw by a tenacious Hashtag United, who looked the more likely of the two to win the game. However, the host’s determination saw them snatch a goal, (and a vital point) from the jaws of defeat in the 11th minute of stoppage time through Jessica Hennessy.

Real Bedford then travelled to Cheltenham Town which resulted in a 6 goal thriller with the visitors dominating from the start.
Despite some superb goalkeeping by Poppy Irvine, Cheltenham struggled to find their attacking strength while the Pirate’s defence nullified the chances they did have.
Only Casi Evans’ strike from distance found its way passed the keeper, in a positive few moments after the re-start for the hosts. Four different goalscorers found their way onto the scoresheet for Bedford with Scarlett Williams netting a brace.

Finally, Gwalia United were the only home team to take all three points in very dramatic fashion this weekend. After a comfortable display by Billericay Town, who spent most of the second half 0-1 up, United’s McGowan converted an 89th minute penalty to level the playing field before Walters found a spark for the winner deep into stoppage time.
This victory is also the first under new manager, Cori Williams-Mills, who will also still contribute a player alongside her new managerial role.

Rearranged fixture: AFC Wimbledon vs Oxford United will be played on Sunday 11th January and will now be played at Tooting and Mitcham United FC’s Imperial Fields.

Division 1 North:

As we enter tier 4, more postponed fixtures in the north of England meant only one fixture was able to go ahead which saw Stockport County defeat close league rivals, Chorley, 2-0.

The hosts had an early chance through a well-won corner but it was Chorley who might feel the more aggrieved after having two goals in ten minutes ruled out by the offside flag. After that, the game fell flat for both sides and the first-half finished 0-0.

Stockport then started the second-half much brighter and had taken the lead within minutes through Jess Battle after converting Lysons cross into the box.
Ten minutes later and County had doubled their lead, this time through Shauna Jein, whose chance looped over the head of the keeper after a chaotic pinball in the box for 2-0.
Both teams then struggled for any further action in front of goal and the scoreline remained 2-0 to the hosts at the final whistle.
Despite the win, Stockport County remain in 5th place in the table but are now 5 points clear of Chorley who remain in 6th.

Division 1 Midlands:

Moving slightly further south and into the Midlands where 3 out of 6 matches were still able to be played with a staggering 16 goals across the trio.

Barnsley fell to a 1-5 defeat against league leaders Boldmere St. Michaels after a mix of injury and illness plagued the usual starting XI with only two substitutes available. With nothing to separate the two teams at half-time, an early goal in the second half for Boldmere through Arinze left Barnsley unable to answer until a consolation goal for the hosts in stoppage time.

Sutton Coldfield Town hosted Worcester City Women and despite the visitors dominating chances in front of goal, it was the hosts who took the lead just after the thirty minute mark through Chloe Dann.
Host keeper, Neve Jones made some crucial saves to keep denying Worcester any joy, however, the visitors continued fighting in the second half and finally equalised in the 62nd minute.
Both teams continued to have chances in front of goal but neither could find a way through so after 7 minutes of stoppage time, the points were shared.

Finally, the biggest scoring match of the weekend came as Notts County hosted Stourbridge in this exciting game of cat and mouse.
The visitors took an early lead through Olivia Owens but an own goal saw Notts equalise 10 minutes later.
County were then able to take the lead at the 30 minute mark before Stourbridge got one back moments later for 2-2.
In first-half stoppage time, Deeley put the visitors in front with a strike from outside of the area making the score going into the break 2-3.
Just after the hour mark, Jess Edwards extended Stourbridge’s lead after a successful 1-on-1 with the keeper before County got one back in the 70th minute for 3-4.
Going into a nervy final 10 minutes, Ella Brennan got her brace as Stourbridge scored their fifth and final goal of the afternoon and the hosts just couldn’t find any further response as the final whistle blew for 3-5.

Division 1 South East:

9 goals across three games as we move into the southeast now, with top of the table Fulham claiming an impressive five goals against Actonians.

AFC Sudbury secured a vital point against London Bees this weekend with an impressive defensive display. Frustratingly for the visitors, they did have the ball in the back of the net shortly after the restart but the assistant flagged for offside and a couple of half chances for both chances but it ultimately ended goalless.

Fulham returned from the Christmas break with an impressive first half display against Actonians where they scored 4 of their 5 goals.
Captain Jade Bradley netted a brace, with further goals from Gandee Morgan, Stevens and the fifth from Naomi Bradley in the second half. This victory secures their top spot in the table for at least another week.

Finally, 8th place MK Dons secured an impressive victory against 4th placed Chatham Town and adds to their 5 game unbeaten run.
Despite a positive opening 20 minutes for the visitors, it was 2 goals in quick succession (Chimbima and Pollard) for the hosts that flipped the game on its head.
The hosts then scored a third shortly after the restart by Erika Lempek as she fired into the bottom corner and Chatham Town knew they had work to do. They continued to build throughout the second half though and it finally paid off as Amelia Woodgate got one back for the visitors in the 81st minute as the final whistle blew at 3-1.

Division 1 South West:

In the South West, only two games were postponed with Maidenhead United being the only visiting team to come away with the three points.

Bournemouth Sports won their first three points of the year in a physical test against Worthing.
The first half gave little up in terms of chances for either team but it was the hosts who broke the deadlock at 65 minutes through Weatherley for 1-0 and a goal mouth scramble doubled their lead ten minutes later. With five minutes to go, Worthing got a goal back through Laila Malcolm at close range and the final whistle blew moments later at 2-1.

League leaders Moneyfields got off to a quick start against Ascot United with Bekah Tonks opening the scoring in the 6th minute. Shannon Albuery then doubled the host’s lead twenty minutes later with goalkeeper Mia King working hard to deny the visitors.
Both sides had a handful of chances in the second half but it was Ascot who came the closest as they hit the post in the final minute of regular time. A goal for Ascot just wasn’t to be though as the whistle blew for 2-0.

Portishead Town lost an early lead as they fell to a second half defeat to Marine Academy Plymouth. Adele Brown gave the hosts the lead in the 14th minute and this advantage remained until just before the one hour mark.
The visitors then scored their second and third goals in quick succession, taking advantage of a renewed energy against their hosts.
A moment of hope as Portishead Town got a goal back for 2-3 in the 70th minute and really pushed to find the equaliser but they just couldn’t find a way through in an incredibly tight second-half.

Finally, Keynsham Town hosted Maidenhead United and the visitors got off to the perfect start as Simone O’Brien scored in the 3rd minute before netting a brace 30 minutes later on the counter.
Their third goal came minutes after the restart from top scorer Izzy Stockton after picking up Charles’ well-placed through-ball.
The hosts weren’t completely out of the game, however, coming close a few times until Beman was able to capitalise on a loose ball from goalkeeper Danni Hull to make it 1-3.
