Aston Villa Stun Arsenal, Chelsea are crowned WSL champions and Crystal Palace are officially relegated:
Lucy Bronze’s signature header scored the winning goal for the Blues against Manchester United to secure Chelsea as the Women’s Super League champions for the sixth year in a row!
A single goal was all it took to claim the title as second placed Arsenal looked unconvincing against a rejuvenated Aston Villa side.
The Lionesses of the midlands were 4-0 up before Arsenal’s Stina Blackstenius and Alessia Russo looked to start the visitors’ comeback; however, the momentum stayed with the home side as Chasity Grant scored the fifth and final goal of the afternoon to make it Villa’s third win in a row in a stark contrast from how Aston Villa started the season.

Elsewhere in the WSL, Nikita Parris’ last minute winner gave Brighton all three points against Everton, while Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur shared the points on Merseyside. Jess Park netted the decider in Manchester City’s trip to Leicester, however, it was West Ham’s impressive 1-7 win over Crystal Palace that made relegation official for the Eagles.
Shekiera Martinez had put the Hammers 0-4 up before Katie Stengel’s well-taken penalty provided a consolation goal for the home side. Three further goals, including a brace from substitute Emma Harries, made it impossible for Crystal Palace to catch Aston Villa in the remaining games and will therefore play in the Women’s Championship after only one season in the top flight.

La Viola victorious over champions Juventus, Inter win the Derby della Madonnina and Sampdoria’s fate is almost sealed:

Madelen Janogy continued her fine form by scoring yet another brace alongside Emma Severini’s penalty to put Fiorentina 3-0 up against the crowned champions. However, the bianconeri proved they should never be counted out as Norweigan international, Emma Stølen Godø, netted a consolation goal in the first minute of stoppage time.

In the final Milan derby of the season, it was an incredibly tense first-half resulting in an even 1-1. Inter proved how clinical they could be, however, scoring 3 goals in the second-half despite Milan having most of the possession. Elisa Polli scored just before the hour mark and a late brace from forward Tessa Wullaert cemented their place in the Champions League qualifying spots for next season, as the game finished 1-4.

Elsewhere, in the ‘poule salvezza’, Como and Lazio (who have spent a lot of time leapfrogging each other this season in a bid to top the relegation group) faced each other yet again, with the visitors showing how clinical they could be in front of goal.
The visitors continued their winning streak in spectacular fashion as Clarisse Le Bihan netted a hat-trick closely followed by Martina Piemonte scoring their fourth and final goal of the game which secured Lazio’s fourth consecutive win.

The final game of the weekend was the most exciting as this was the relegation decider.
10th placed Napoli hosted 11th placed Sampdoria with only 1 point between the two and an opportunity for both to still escape the single Serie A relegation spot.
Despite the visitors having more opportunities in front of goal and even taking the lead in the first ten minutes through Marta Llopis Álvarez, it was Napoli who were more clinical to ultimately win the decider.
Napoli found their equaliser in the 24th minute by Giordano and then the winning strike through Melissa Bellucci found the back of the net just before the hour mark. This victory allows Napoli to put some distance between themselves and Sampdoria with the visitors having one more chance in the penultimate matchday to save themselves from relegation.

Matchday 20 saw the top of the table versus the bottom in the Frauen Bundesliga and for the neutral, there were no surprises in the results.
In the first game of the weekend, it was relegated Potsdam who faced top four team Bayer Leverkusen and had to do so with only ten players. Maya Hahn was shown a red card just after the thirty minute mark (only ten minutes after receiving her first yellow) to make the match considerably harder than it already was. Although, after going 3-0 down to Leverkusen, midfielder Viktoria Schwalm was able to get a consolation goal for the home side in the final minute of regular time, which incredibly was only their 5th goal of the season.

SGS Essen recorded an impressive victory over league rivals RB Leipzig (who have only taken 2 points in their last four games) while Werder Bremen, Wolfsburg and Eintracht Frankfurt all took comfortable victories over their opponents.

The stand-out story of the weekend, of course, was Bayern Munich’s victory over Freiburg which confirmed their third German league title in a row!
Lea Schüller opened the scoring just after the 20 minute mark before Svenja Fölmli equalised for the visitors only a few minutes later and the first-half ended 1-1. The home side came out fighting after the restart and goals from Harder and Viggósdóttir secured the 3-1 win (and the title) against fifth placed Freiburg.
